Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams has signed a new deal with the La Liga club, extending his contract until 2028.

Williams had been identified by Manchester United as a potential replacement for striker Romelu Lukaku, who joined Inter Milan this summer for a fee of €80 million.

When does the transfer window close?

The 25-year-old last signed a deal with Bilbao in January 2018, when he committed his future to the club until 2025 with a release clause of €80m.

The new deal sees the player’s release clause rise to €135m.

Williams has made more than 200 appearances for Bilbao and featured in all of their La Liga matches last season, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists.
