The bottlecap challenge is sweeping across social media as people try to unscrew bottles using nothing but a roundhouse kick, filmed in super slow-motion.

It all began with martial artist Farabi Davletchin and since then the likes of Jason Statham, Conor McGregor and musician John Mayer have all had a go. Of course, it didn’t take long for the challenge to make the inevitable leap to football, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic first up to test his skills.

The LA Galaxy striker filed his own attempt at the challenge inside the locker room and, naturally, he nailed it.

What’s more, he even dared his old friend Paul Pogba to have a go too.

Ibrahimovic has a black belt in taekwondo so it’s perhaps little wonder he made the bottlecap challenge look easy.

Perhaps he was still in a mood after suffering the ignominy of taking to the pitch against Toronto FC on Thursday evening with a spelling error on the back of his shirt.

The typo didn’t prevent “IRBAHIMOVIC” from scoring both goals in the 2-0 win.

When asked about it after the match, he said: “[The] kit guy celebrated [Independence Day] before the game. … People know my last name. I’m not worried about that.”

Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong tributes: classy or cringeworthy?

With Frenkie De Jong‘s big move to Barcelona now formally completed, Ajax have gone to great lengths to wishing their departing starlet well on his new adventure.

The Dutch club took out a full-page advert in Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo to wish De Jong good luck at the Camp Nou.

Barca reciprocated in kind, thanking Ajax for their gracious gesture in their best conversational Dutch.

But Ajax then stepped things up a few notches by revealing they also had their tribute emblazoned across the side of a bus that was driving through the streets of Barcelona.

De Jong is now officially a Barca player after completing his €75 million transfer to the Catalan side, which was originally agreed between the two clubs back in January.

“I am very happy to be here finally. As a child it was a dream for me, and now I’m here so it’s great,” the midfielder said in his maiden interview with the Barca club website.

“I like Barca’s way of playing, the philosophy of Barça and Ajax are very similar, and I think I will enjoy it.

“I’m happy to be able to play with Messi, who I have always followed. Now my idol will be my teammate.”
