Arsenal have agreed to sign Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli on a long-term contract, the club have announced.

Gabriel, 18, joins from Ituano, where he made his debut in 2017 at the age of 16.

When does the transfer window close?

He scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the club and was named Best Newcomer in 2019 in the Campeonato Paulista.

Gabriel was called up to the Brazil national side for a training camp in May ahead of the Copa America and will join Arsenal’s preseason once the deal is completed.

The Brazilian had been watched by Manchester United in 2017.

Meanwhile, a source has told ESPN FC that Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha would prefer a move to Arsenal over United during this transfer window.
