Bayern Munich new shirt is red again but has an Allianz feel

Looks like David Alaba won’t be going anywhere this summer then.

Bayern Munich have revealed their new home kit for the 2019-20 season and in a fairly predictable turn of events, the club have opted for a red approach.

While the colourway might be traditional, the shirt is emblazoned with an interesting motif inspired by the angular architecture of the Allianz Arena.

Much like Chelsea’s new home shirt, the Bayern jersey features a stylish digitalised “remix” of their stadium’s diamond-shaped exterior panels.

When it opened in 2005, the Allianz was the first stadium to boast a full colour-changing exterior thanks to the thousands of foil panels wrapped around the facade.

According to the accompanying blurb, the new kit represents an homage to their home while offering a “daring” pattern that heralds the club’s future while simultaneously honouring their past.
