Real Madrid’s Mariano tests positive for COVID-19

Real Madrid forward Mariano has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of their Champions League clash with Manchester City, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Zinedine Zidane‘s side face City at the Etihad Stadium on Friday Aug. 7 for the second leg of their round-of-16 clash, which they trail 2-1.

“Following COVID-19 tests undertaken yesterday from our first-team squad, that of Mariano resulted positive,” a Real Madrid statement read.

“The player is in a perfectly healthy state and complying with the health protocol as well self-isolation.”
