Liverpool romped to a comfortable 4-1 win against Sevilla in a preseason friendly at Anfield on Sunday.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring for the home side before Luis Díaz scored twice and substitute Treymaurice Nyoni added the final goal of the game.

Arne Slot named a strong starting XI, including Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Jota opened the scoring for Liverpool on 30 minutes with an excellent first-time volley into the top corner after getting on the end of Alexander-Arnold’s ball over the top.

Diaz doubled Liverpool’s advantage on 39 minutes, cutting in from the left to fire across goal and into the top corner.

And the Colombia forward added a third in first-half stoppage time when Dominik Szoboszlai squared for him to tap into an empty net.

Gerard Fernández pulled a goal back for Sevilla on 66 minutes but soon after Liverpool added a fourth through Nyoni.

Liverpool begin their 2024-25 Premier League campaign at newly promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday.
