Bukayo Saka is expected to be fit for England‘s Group C opener against Serbia on Sunday, sources have told ESPN.

The 22-year-old only took a limited part in training last week as he stepped up his recovery from a muscular problem which ruled him out of Arsenal’s final Premier League game against Everton last month.

Saka missed England’s first warm-up game against Bosnia but played the final 25 minutes of last Friday’s 1-0 defeat to Iceland at Wembley.

Sources have told ESPN that Saka is pushing to start against Serbia and should be available barring any setbacks over the next few days.

England trained at the Jena Stadium in a UEFA-organised public session on Tuesday. Jude Bellingham returned to the group after being given last week to rest following his Champions League triumph with Real Madrid against Borussia Dortmund.

Lewis Dunk is set to return to training following a knee problem while Manchester United‘s Tom Heaton is now with the squad after Southgate asked the 38-year-old to act as a “training goalkeeper” to aid preparations for Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale and Dean Henderson.
